So I'm not doing too well at this- already missed a few days of writing. Suffice it to say that life can sometimes find ways to keep you from your heart's desire. However, I am getting pretty darn close to lift off. I will be going out of town for a week starting the 15th, but when I come back- it's on!

Almost Ready

Well hello. I have "unofficially" been trying to write a blog entry every day. I think it will get me into good habits and maybe start to make me think creatively. My collage equipment is starting to arrive - today my self-healing cutting board and tools arrived. So far I am really happy with it. You can check it out here- http://www.cutting-mats.net/cutting-mats-1021.html

Other than that, I went and hung out with the ladies I am working with today. I think it went really well, and we are starting to get more cohesive. This is great! I am ready to get going, and start working. I need the rest of my supplies!!

So today I went on a little field trip for this crafting adventure I am embarking on! It was fun. I went to Peak Candle Supplies in Denver today to pick up my wax. I met some nice folks, and they were nice enough to give me a free sample of fragrance! I am so jazzed that they are as close to me as they are.

I also received my Mod Podge in the mail. I got some of the paper matte kind. I got a great deal from Beverly's online. I am starting to get excited- if only the rest of the stuff were here so I could get going.

My best friend is also looking like she is getting the bug, too, which is great because she is so creative. I think she and I will make an unstoppable team.

Sleepless Nights in Preparation

I have been working for days on my plans for the business. I have so many ideas that I am excited to try out. It has started to drive me crazy, though, lol- I've been up for a couple of days now working on my plans. I am proud though, and I think it is going to be good.

I picked out a group of scents that I think are going to work well together, as well as colors that I think are really representative both of me and of summer, which is right around the corner. I am having some difficulties with the supply company that is supplying my candle jars- I am not sure what is going to happen. At least the lady was nice enough to email me herself. I am eagerly awaiting her reply- I hope she isn't out of the jars I started off with originally! Ay.

Meanwhile, I am starting to think about how to tie together all of the things I am going to offer at the store. I read an article about client retention that suggests that you think about your shopper. I know how I want to be treated as a customer, and so I go with that. I know I'd be more likely to stay at a store that sold more products like the one that brought me there, as opposed to one with a big jumble. Big jumbles are good for browsing, but not so much for buying.

I need to figure out the legal stuff, and I need to come up with a coherent plan. I have an idea of what I want but I need to find something to tie everything together. Candles & art alone seem sort of mismatched. I need something that connects them or starts to show a theme. I am still working on it.

In any case. I am enjoying the journey and really cannot wait for the stuff to get here! I want to start DOING SOMETHING already- I am going to pass out from exhaustion otherwise, LOL!

The Art of Creation, The Creation of Art

Who knew art was so complicated? I never thought about how many steps it would take to get me where I am now, and there are still so many ahead of me! However, I am motivated by my excitement to create and I can't wait to get started!

I have my Etsy site up, although I haven't got my products up yet, and I am beginning to navigate the difficult "Business" side of everything. Confusing, but so important!

I hope to use this site to document not only the creative process, but also the process in which I educate myself into being a decent business owner! Wish me luck!

Each step brings us closer.
